ABOUT:
My name is Dougal Gorman. Not doodle, not Google, but Dougal. Or you’re welcome to call me Doug, whatever toots your horn. I am a twenty seven year old photographer who currently lives in Sydney (Eora), Australia.
My first job at Monster Children was shooting one of the infamous Annual Party’s somewhere in Sydney, where I drank about 10,000 free Coronas. I also specialised in sweeping the Monster Children office floors and stocktaking 10 million back-issues of the magazine. But now I take photos for them.
For those who care, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Photography. I have an email certificate to prove it and an astronomical dept to pay off. I genuinely learnt a lot at university…but certainly nothing about photographing sweaty, bleeding, beer-guzzling, crazy punk rockers. Which is what I have been documenting for the last six odd years of my life. Despite my half-ass efforts so far, it feels like I’ve barely scratched the surface of the Australian punk scene and is a world I’m committed to photographing and archiving for years to come.
So far, I have been extremely lucky enough to tour nationally and internationally with the likes of Amyl & The Sniffers, C.O.F.F.I.N, Mini Skirt, The Chats, Bad Dreems, Speed, Pist Idiots and more.
Ps. I promise I’ve also written some mildly in-depth interviews and articles, but sadly some of my best work has been sucked deep into the dark web when this trendy website was upgraded.
