Thomas Campbell

The start of this interview went entirely according to plan, following a set of questions that I wanted to ask Thomas Campbell. But then just as I was warned it would, as we neared the end of the interview it veered off onto a tangent about surfing. The questioning turned to me which doesn’t happen too often in this job - a testament to the inquisitive, kind nature of Thomas. A lot of people that get to the position Thomas is in don’t have time to ask questions of silly journalists let alone give them advice on surfboards, but that is the opposite of Thomas. In fact I’d go as far to say that’s exactly what makes Thomas so successful. He is always looking at the world in a different light to everyone else, asking the questions, pushing the envelope and appreciating what is around him. He exists across all the worlds we love at Monster Children and is not only a close friend of the magazine, but personally of Campbell and Hollywood. He’s designed covers for us, shot photos for us, drawn over our walls, offered advice and inspired us. He’s as much a part of the magazine as a notepad, a pen and a lunch time beer and what follows is less of an interview but rather a chat with an old friend.
