You’re Invited: Icons, A Collection Of Iconic Images In Rock N Roll Culture Presented By Monster Children & Blender Gallery

Second only to the music, in rock and roll, photographs create icons.

The Strokes in Spin, Blondie in Time, Elliott Smith in a Pacific Northwest fanzine; these are the pieces we pin to the walls of our teenage years, the images we look to to understand the music we love, and the reference points which help us to look the way that the music feels. When we picture rock and roll in our minds, we see photographs of artists and rebels and daredevils and punks - the strange and scary creators of culture, mid-struggle, frozen in time. Truly, photographs create icons.

Monster Children, being at the crux of these two important and inseparable art forms, treasures these images, as does Blender Gallery, an art gallery which represents and houses some of the greatest photographers and photographs in music history. We and they have teamed up to present, Icons, a collection of iconic images in rock and roll culture, featuring historical and unforgettable photographs of Nirvana, Blondie, David Bowie, Patti Smith, and The Rolling Stones, shot by incredible photographers like Henry Diltz, Jesse Frohman, Duffy, and many more.

Join Monster Children and Blender Gallery for the opening of Icons hosted at the Monster Children Gallery on Thursday, June 27th from 5-9pm, or catch the show on view in the Monster Children Gallery until July 28th.

No RSVP needed. Free to enter. With food and beverage courtesy of our favorites, DRNKS, Young Henry’s, Jameson, and Beach Burrito.
