You’re Going to Want a Hendrik Max Knife
Film by Myles Carroll
When you finally decide to invest in a Hendrik Max kitchen knife, you’ll realise that any slicing and dicing you’ve done up until this point has been like julienning a carrot with a blunt butter knife.
Not only do they slice with precision akin to a samurai sword (which makes sense, given that Hendrik did a sword-making course in Kyoto before starting his own knife biz), they also look like an objet d’art, hanging right there in your kitchen knife rack. Hendrik is a Sydney-based knife maker who left behind long and ungodly hours in hatted restaurants to pursue a life of hammering very hot, very high carbon steel into sleek, sharp-as-all-hell knives with deliciously smooth timber handles and one-of-a-kind patterned blades. We stopped by his workshop to watch sparks fly.
