You Missed It: Icons Exhibition

Last night we kicked off the ICONS exhibition alongside our friends at Blender Gallery.

All week Tali Udovich and her team were hanging all the stunning photos and I tried my best not to look at them because I wanted to save for the opening night and boy was it worth the wait. Made even better by the nachos served by Beach Burrito Co, the wine by DRNKS, beer by Young Henrys and whiskey by Jameson, of course. We got to hang out with our friends as well as David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, The Clash and many more. My favourite shot was the one of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards hanging out in Villa Nellcôte by Dominique Tarle from 1971. The Villa Nellcôte was leased from April 1971 to October 1973 by Keith Richards because he was essentially tied up in some tax exile thing (rockstars huh) and there the band recorded much of the Exile on Main St album in its basement. The photo captures Mick playing the guitar on the couch and a barely noticeable Keith laying on the floor no doubt bouncing ideas off each other. It looks exactly like a photo someone would take of their mates doing the same thing only it’s the fucking Rolling Stones and you’d be sure that they were creating some magic. If you don’t know what photo I’m talking about make sure you head down to 7a Danks Street in the next few days as ICONS will be open for viewing until July 28th. Thanks to Jack Moran for capturing the opening night.
