What We’re Getting Our Mums This Mother’s Day

Do not panic.

I repeat do not panic. Mother’s Day is next Sunday (May 14th) so you’ve still got time to order a present for it to arrive on time so that you can give it to your mum in the hope that some measly spend will make up for the fact she’s had to put up with you your entire life. I don’t know how she does it honestly. You can’t even spell necessary. In saying that though, we do have to endure through phone calls that should be one minute and end up being an hour. Like no mum, I don’t give a fuck that Wendy who babysat my sister and I once when we were younger because dad was in the hospital with hemorrhoids lived in that house just before the roundabout which actually used to be green but now it’s navy and that she split up with her husband last year, I just want to know if I’m turning left or right at the bottom of the road to get to Nan’s. Other than that though - mum’s are great and this is what we’re getting them to say thanks.

Knap Store

Anything from Knap Store is going to be a win in mum’s eyes I guarantee it. Stylish mums at that. With local and international brands, Knap Store prides itself on sustainable, original fashion with some vintage pieces and cool little knick knacks. You can’t really go wrong here.

Tamila Purvis Jewellery

Being in the fashion game for over fifteen years including a stint as the Fashion Editor at Russh Magazine, Tamila sure does have an eye for what works and what doesn’t. When she turned to jewellery design and piercing, little angels sang into our ears because they knew the little lobs at the bottom were about to get a revamp. Her collection of 14k and 18k gold and white diamond cartilage earring studs and hoops coupled with her eye for arrangement is a great pick to make mum feel special.

Pony Rider National Project Range

If your mum ever yelled at you to just go outside as a kid (everyone), give her a taste of her own medicine with some gear from The Pony Rider National Project range. The National Project advocates action-oriented adventures and projects in nature because as it turns out, mum was right - being outside is the best thing ever and it’s definitely worth protecting. Every purchase from the giveback range goes towards the the current project helping to restore the heritage-listed walking huts nestled within National parks around Australia.

After a very successful project one, the team is helping Through The Unexpected, an organisation helping expecting parents navigate unforeseen news regarding the health, development or genetics of their unborn baby through a limited run of denim artist-designed bags. These bags can literally fit a four-year-old which is what mum needs and have been designed by some of the best international and local artists including Alexis Ross, Ben Quilty, Emily Ferretti, Mark Gonzales, Nadia Hernandez, Otis Carey and many more. Duck Ragu Stained Glassed Mirrors

Mum always told me handmade presents were her favourites. Giving her hand-drawn pictures probably stopped being cute and acceptable around the same time my artistic capabilities peaked at age six though. Lucky some people’s skills just keep on going through to adulthood and you can buy their skills and give them as presents for mum. Duck Ragu’s hand-made stained glass mirrors are on of these things. She’ll be the envy of every person checking themselves out in it guaranteed.

Native Wines Chardy Hat

Not what a mum wants, but what a mum needs. This doesn’t even need an explanation just go out, buy it and add a couple bottles while you’re at it.
