We Went To the Switch Flip Off At Tompkins
Late last week, Sagan posted something about a ‘Switch Flip Off’ brought to you by AMFM, Star Team, and Fuck This Industry, at Tompkins in Manhattan’s East Village, and our curiosity was peeked.
‘What the fuck is a switch flip off?’ we asked ourselves. We never got an answer, so we sent our writer Pat out to shoot some photos, take some notes, and lurk around. Here’s what he came back with.
When I asked Ian what the format was, he said “Switch flips”. I said “That’s what I thought”. “If you switch flip anything anywhere at any time, you get free shit”
Perfect weather, lil hot
Prizes were lookin sweet.
The Star Basketball became a quick point of interest.
Slow start, people were being shy about their sw flips.
Mikey first to score - he got socks.
People were brainstorming parameters, like “what about a first-ever sw flip?”, “sw flip another person’s board” and “double flip, double prize” (Marcello got that one).
People had to issue in some obstacles to spice things up. It went skateboard, cone, sideways barrier, and finally kicker.
A local homeless guy was very interested once beer became a prize item.
The kicker revved things up.
