Watch: Fifty Weight Forecast

There has got to be a word to describe people who are straight-A chillers but then charge in all other aspects of their life.

I’m yet to find this word, but when I find I do this is how I would describe Chippa Wilson. It is well known Chippa launches in the surf, is covered head to toe in tattoos and prefers a hawg as his method of transport to check the waves, but meet this man in person and you’ll quickly learn he has quite the opposite demeanour than what you would probably expect. Perhaps Fifty Weight Forecast, the title of the new Brixton film by Mark Kirkland and Mark Choiniere could be the new term. With an assembled crew featuring the likes of skaters Andrew Allen and Mike Anderson, tattooist Nathan Kostechko, and fellow bike enthusiasts Max Schaaf and Dayten Likness who are similarly extremely nice guys, Fifty Weight Forecast beautifully records a bike trip from San Diego to San Francisco shot entirely on 16mm film. The film captures a trip largely spent on two wheels, with a couple of skateboards and surfboards thrown in the mix for good measure. An ode to friendship, bikes and allure of time well spent on the road.
