British Columbia, Canada has some of the most scenic terrain in the world—the only problem is it’s not entirely accessible for the faint of heart.

Pro snowboarder Bryan Fox and pals Callum Pettit and Mason Mashon trekked up the mountains of BC for a weekend of sledding through sketchy avalanche zones, split boarding through treacherous vistas, and camping in frozen temperatures before finally catching a few solid runs in the backcountry. Sometimes the reward is worth the journey, even if you think you’re gonna die halfway through. Hey, that just makes the experience more memorable, right?
