The Slowtide X Arto Saari Collab Series Is Finally Here
Arto Saari, one of our favorite photographers/skaters/surfers, teamed up with Slowtide, one of our favorite towel/garment/home goods makers, to create a series of towels that combine the style and aesthetic of Arto with the quality design and functionality of Slowtide. We are very fucking excited. We cannot wait to dry off with a bit of Saari.
Nothing more satisfying than seeing two talented friends get together to make something that doesn’t suck. It’s like when you set up your best friend with your other best friend, and then those two get married and have a baby, and that baby grows up to play bass in a really good band and has a nasty kick flip, and also rips at surfing. We of course aren’t taking credit for this match made in surfy dry heaven, but we are friends with Arto, and we are friends with Slowtide, so on a very subconscious, even subatomic level, we may have had a little influence. All we can say is you’re welcome, world.
The subject matter of the collaboration comes from Arto Saari’s devoted love for the ocean which developed quickly after settling on the North Shore of O’ahu, Hawaii. Each towel is a photograph that Arto took and comes with a particular back story and meaning; the sets that day, who was in the water, and what gear he shot on.
From a practical function stand point, the towels are constructed of extremely soft, 100% sustainably sourced cotton, equipped with a drawcord loop for quick drying, and big (36in x 64in) but not so big that you can’t throw it in your bag and head to the beach or on a hike or down a river or off a waterfall. It’s a bit ideal - too good to be true, only it is.
Get it before it’s gone, here.
