Paris Avec Amour

We could all learn a lot from the Parisians.

Paris is the best city in the world right now. Not only have they created the most stunning place to cruise around, but they also know how to live a good life.

Late nights, later starts to the day. Parisians love to take their time. Lunch could take a couple of hours, and it should. Watching the sunset by the river with wine, beer, and cheese is a must. It is totally acceptable to take off out of the city for the entire month of August. They still make smoking look cool, which is pretty hard these days. The skateboarders change out their stinky skate shoes for loafers when it's time to hit the bars. Everything is cooler, and they make everything look and sound better than the rest of us.

There is a buzz running through the city, and Paris has accepted its role as the cultural hub of Europe. There was nothing for us to bring to the city, as it was all already there. We were there to watch and learn, to participate and try to blend in seamlessly.

Les Parisiens sont des êtres étonnants. Malgré une fâcheuse tendance à être pressés, ils peuvent pourtant passer des heures assis à une table pour un bon café et un déjeuner entre amis, ou rester dehors jusqu’au petit matin à refaire le monde. Une intrigante dissonance qui façonne la ville de jour comme de nuit.

À Paris, regarder le coucher de soleil en bord de Seine avec un verre de vin et un plateau de fromages est une tradition sacrée, tout comme le fait d’abandonner la ville pendant tout le mois d’août. Les Parisiens arriveraient même à nous convaincre que fumer c’est cool — ce qui est assez difficile de nos jours. Les skateurs de Paris ont cette double énergie qu’on envie. Le soir venu, ils troquent leurs chaussures de skate puantes pour des mocassins, et chaque mot qui sort de leur bouche a un certain je ne sais quoi irrésistible.
