Love & Hate Pub Edition

Ah the pub.
What an establishment. A hook in our busy lives that keeps us coming back again and again. We love the pub. You love the pub. Shanae ‘Sheezy’ Collins, Nixen Osborne and Dennis Durrant love the pub so we figured what better way to get to know each other than to hang out at the pub. Down in Sydney for the Jameson x Dickies launch party, the Dickies skate team assembled at the Crix for a drink and game of pool dressed in their favourite picks from the new collaboration range. For Shanae that was the overalls, while the boys loved the jackets. When we asked them what their plans were for while they were in Sydney, the 8am flight the next day was a hot topic, but how they liked their Jameson? Well that one was easy - Jameson, dry and lime. Can’t beat a classic. In the spirit of all things pub, we pulled out an old faithful series, Love & Hate - pub edition.
Love / Pub / Sheezy Collins
I like when they have good jukebox music, when they’ve got classic bangers playing. It creates a good vibe and everyone is hyped.
When the toilets are clean, with no wee on the floor and they have soap.
When there is a pool table or a tennis table or both.
Crusty locals. The ones that you can tell they’ve been there for thirty years, like have they been there forever? Who knows? The mystery will unfold.
When you randomly walk in and they’re doing trivia. Spontaneous trivia. That’s the best.
Winning pool.
Surprising people when I’m good at pool. I talk a huge game but then I beat them.
Love being smalls.
Getting chip shots and getting it into the pocket.
I love the banter. When someone is talking shit.
Hate / Pub / Sheezy Collins
Stinky sweaty men.
When the bar staff don’t serve me and they think I’m someone’s kid because I’m so short. They never see me and then when they do they always ask for my ID.
When you can’t get an uber when you want to go home.
I hate when it’s really loud. When the music and people talking are competing with each other.
Getting heckled - for whatever. For existing.
Losing pool.
When you’re mid-game of pool and people come up and put a coin down. The unspoken rules that you have to play that person next, like why can’t I just play who I want?
When the pool table is too close to the wall and you can’t take the shot properly.
When you can’t see properly because it’s not very well lit up.
When all the ball cubes on the pool table are fucking fried.
Love / Pub / Nixen Osborne
Playing pool.
Having a drink with the locals.
Having a yarn with the lads.
Watching sport.
Chicken parmys.
Just going to list pool again because I love pool.
Losing pool because that doesn’t happen too often either.
Playing a consistent game of pool.
Pool?
Hate / Pool / Nixen Osborne
Locals only mentality.
When there’s no pool table.
Sticky floors.
Rude people… like you’re at the pub?
When they cook a shit parmy.
When it’s too loud to concentrate on a conversation.
Two shot foul – you shouldn’t need two chances.
A person that makes up a new rule every time they lose pool.
People that are too serious.
But then people that aren’t serious too. It’s a balance.
Love / Pub / Dennis Durrant
The drinks.
Good vibes.
Good feeds.
Watching the fights (on TV).
Playing pool.
Hate / Pub / Dennis Durrant
Bad music.
Bad vibes.
Bad food.
Bad service.
Muppets.
Hate being the smalls. I don’t hate anything else about the pub or pool except being the smalls.
