Listen: The Soundtracks Of Tom Karangelov
We asked for photos of Tom, we got this back.
Tom Karangelov is a professional skateboarder sponsored most prominently by WKND and New Balance among many hefty others.
He is very good at skateboarding. You know that already, you clicked this link, you must know. Are you at all aware that he is also a connoisseur of movie and video game soundtracks of the 1980’s and 1990s? Or that he is a fucking stuntman? An actor? A Jackie Chan ABD doer? A man obsessed with the horizontal haze of worn VHS tapes and action thrillers of yesteryear? We asked him to make us a playlist of songs he loves, and what he sent us instead was a list of tracks belonging exclusively to the exhausted synthesizer keys of decades past. Tracks so obscure, they aren’t available on Spotify or Apple Music or any other contemporary streaming platform. So obscure, and yet so necessary that Tom used the word ‘YouTube’ as a verb and a demand at the top of his custom track list below. I call that dedication.
Tom made this with his own two hands.
