The 2023 Vans Pipe Masters kicks off on the North Shore with a heat draw on the evening of the 7th.

Over fifty years of history, twenty surfers, two weeks and one of the most phenomenal breaks in the world, the North Shore is about to become a boiling pot of talent, fibreglass and friends. In 1971, Continental Airlines put up a purse of $1000 for the winning surfer, a small step down from the $100,000 up for grabs for the winner in 2023. Still you couldn’t pay me to paddle out there, but that is why I am not a professional and will be happily watching on sipping Mai Tai’s from the beach. I will argue this is just as fun.
