Disposable: Automatic

Marry fuck kill.

For years and years and years, we have been fans of the danceable synthy punk music of LA’s own, Automatic.

Halle Gaines, Lola Dompé, and Izzy Glaudini make music that hits us right where it hurts best, and we can’t get enough of them. Having just gone out on a month-long North American tour with The Maria’s, we wanted to see what sort of strange things they got up to on the road, and they didn’t disappoint. Drinking gasoline and playing baseball. Freaky stuff. Here’s a glimpse into the touring lives of one of LA’s best bands, with photos shot by all three members (plus guardian angel Anna) and captions by Halle Gaines.

We like art. Can't get enough of it really.

Sometimes on tour, you’re in a rush to get to the next city on time, so you can’t stop to eat and you get hungry. At this point of late stage capitalism, we’ve lost our connection to nature, which has le(a)d some musicians to develop strange ideas about where food comes from.

At some point on tour, I started flipping Izzy off at completely random times that didn’t make logical sense and here you can see her getting back at me for it. Lola always caught in the crosshairs while just trying to play catch.

If you got a chance to play catch with Lola with a ball and mitts that The Maria’s lent you, this is what it would look like.

Izzy’s guardian angel Anna saves her from heat stroke after playing outside in Salt Lake City in the summer with her magical cooling mask.

For some reason, all memories of tour black-out from my mind completely except those that were captured in photos. Even the past two years that I’ve been completely sober. I remember I was faking this look of surprise.
