Watch: Custom For Matt Titone By McTavish Surfboards

You might know Matt Titone from the Surf Shacks book you probably have sitting on your coffee table. 

A designer, much like Bob McTavish, with a life underpinned by surfing, it seemed fitting he is the star of the second episode from McTavish Surfboard’s series Custom For___. With the GOAT Stephanie Gilmore featuring in the first episode (watch here), Custom For___ explores the journey of Bob crafting fully hand-shaped surfboards for surfers, with every detail customised based on where they surf the most and what they want out of their surfing. With over sixty years of shaping experience, Bob guides each surfer towards shapes and set ups for maximum surfing pleasure, creating a unique experience for each surfer to follow the process from start to finish. 

As the founder of creative studio ITAL/C, the design of the board was just as important as the glassing for Matt, and over a couple of Zoom sessions both Bob and head laminator Nico Saint-Cas dreamt up a one-of-one board with a one-of-one finish. The result? A custom handshaped asym following some encouragement from Bob to try something unique, with ocean tones.
