adidas Skateboarding x Pop Trading Company

adidas Skateboarding has joined forces with the Amsterdam-based skate collective Pop and unveils an outdoor-inspired footwear and apparel line.

With the flat, grassy lowlands of the Netherlands in mind, the collection blends skate and outdoorsy clobber in a way that doesn’t suck. ‘We were stoked when adidas Skateboarding gave us creative reign to design this range,’ said Pop co-founder Peter Kolks at a press conference held deep in a Scandinavian wood. ‘They trusted our vision and provided us access to adidas’ vault for all categories. We’re huge fans of the brand’s TERREX products, so it was an honor to put our spin on the Swift R2 GTX with Scott Johnston, the brand’s footwear designer.’ At this point in the press conference, a bird’s nest filled with wild berries and various foraged items was passed around and everyone ate of them. Kolk continued. ‘Our goal was to create a line that fuses skateboarding with menswear, to find elements that complement those two worlds, and deliver something truly unique and unexpected. We think this collection exceeded our expectations, and we’re excited to share it with the world.’

So, what have Pop put their spin on? Well, adidas’ iconic Campus ADV model has been given a ripstop upper alongside a toe vamp with a hot melt rubber toe bumper that stretches to the heel: key features that will prove the shoe to be more durable than the most durable thing you can think of, like marble or something. Rounding out the footwear’s aesthetics are suede eye stays and a recycled Orthalite sock liner for added comfort.

Apparel-wise, the collection’s standout offerings utilize adidas’ recycled lightweight Primegreen technology with durable water-repellent coating across the packable Pop Tech Jacket and matching Pant set, which also sports sweat-wicking AEROREADY features to help regulate heat management. The range also features the Pop Thermal Long Sleeve for added thermal insulation, Pop Tech Tee ideal for layering, the Pop Tech Sock designed to be worn with the Swift R2 GTX and the Pop Superlite Cap to complete the line’s head-to-toe look.

To celebrate the new collection, adidas Skateboarding has released the Pop Trading Company skate video, which you can watch below. The collection is available for purchase on February 18 via adidas.com/skateboarding, poptradingcompany.com and in select skate shops.
