Words by Riki Wells.

Welcoming in October means welcoming in the slew of gigs taking over the country this month.

With summer incoming, it can be hard to know where to even start, so we’ve put together a selection of gigs from local and international artists to get you through the month.

Volume Festival

The Art Gallery of New South Wales’ festival offering, ‘Volume’ is the perfect opportunity to get your intellectual music thinking cap on. The opening night of the festival was described as 'a pulsing, hypnotic dreamscape,’ with many free shows, grab tickets for the remaining events!

Having toured with our friends Dead Kennedys, Cosmic Psychos, Parkway Drive, Frenzal Rhomb, Misfits and Amyl and the Sniffers just to name a few - you know you’re going to be in good hands (ears).

Everywhere except the NT (sorry).

ECHOLAPSE

Sydney collective Prefix Audio jumped onto the Sydney electronic/dance scene last year with high standards. After some successful shows, multiple radio spins and mentions in MixMag, the boys opened for Joyty’s sold out Sydney show at Civic. With a spooky air to it, their Friday 13th return to the stage is a guaranteed burner, as in, it will be on fire!

Earl Sweatshirt

Touring his widely released album, ‘SICK!’, free download album ‘Voir Dire’, and celebrating ten years since his debut album ‘Doris’, Earl Sweatshirt, one of hip-hops prodigies, is returning to Australia. Renowned for ‘exciting flow’ and eclectic production, Earl represents a change of batons in hip-hop. This show will be a hard one to get ahold of tickets, but if you can we implore you to go.

Catch the man at Yours & Owls, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
