6 Gigs We’re Going To This July In Australia

We have now officially passed the winter solstice which practically means it’s almost summer. The dark to dark work ratios are only going to improve from here on out, people will be drinking beers on the street again and we won’t have to gee ourselves up to get into the ocean. Can you tell I fucking hate winter? Anyway, July's gig schedule is looking so juiced up that it doesn’t really matter if we can’t feel our hands because we are distracted by all of the fun. Case in point below:

Volume Festival

Kim Gordon, André 3000. Genesis Owusu, Tkay Maidza need we say more? If you don’t know what Volume is, check out our interview with the curator here, or perhaps lift yourself out from underneath that rock. Tickets are still available.

TV Girl

They sold out shows across the country so fast that they added second ones in most places. TV Girl is a sunny, throwback splash of ‘60s French pop and southern California soul mixed with shimmering vocals and sampled beats. We are big fans and will certainly be in attendance. Secure your spot in the pit here.

A Banging Weekender

A Banging Weekender is a mini fest running across three nights on the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and finishing up in the Northern Rivers. Bad Dreems headline all three nights with support from Body Type, The Slingers, Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys, Mini Skirt, Porpoise Spit, Wet Season and Fat Dog and the Tits. Support your local Aussie acts and get amongst this one.

The Jesus and Mary Chain

One of the most iconic Scottish rock bands from the 80s’ The Jesus And Mary Chain are back for shows across the country. Member Jim Reid once said, ‘We've never fit in anywhere, and that's just fine with us. We are the party, and that's all that matters,’ and if that doesn’t resonate with us, I don’t know what will. Tickets here.

Vacations

Newwy seems to be pushing out some of the country’s most beloved bands over the past years and Vacations are no exception. Lo-fi Woozy guitar pop that you can really let your hair down too, get yourself a ticket here.

The Olympics

This obviously has nothing to do with anything other than just being a friendly reminder that the Olympics kick off 26th July. Go Tillies!
