"Since I was seventeen I thought I might be a star. I'd think about all my heroes, Charlie Parker, Jimi Hendrix... I had a romantic feeling about how these people became famous". - Basquiat. Tamra Davis's 88 minute doco on Jean-Micheal Basquiat was filmed two years before his death, then put in a drawer only to be removed some 20 years after, this is a beautiful and intimate doco on a person that inspired and influenced a generation or two.

In reference to LA in Annie Hall, Woody Allen famously said "I don't want to move to a city where the only cultural advantage is being able to turn right on a red light". I've chosen to disregard his comments and am attempting to be the LA correspondent for MC (and no, my auntie is not here with me). First up, Juztapoz have released their list of Top 100 Galleries. I can't tell if they're being biased, but you should see how many are based in LA. Times are changing Woody. Speaking of biased... look who comes in at number 69.
